Vinyl Lamination of Fabric

IPA Southern laminates vinyl to the face of fabric to provide maximum protection. Vinyl is an ideal choice for a variety of applications, so we laminate the face of fabric for use in tablecloths, tote bags, hand bags, splash mats, costumes and upholstery fabrics as well as seating areas that require maximum protection. The application of vinyl to either side of your fabric provides an outstanding moisture barrier.

Moisture Barrier

To provide protection against moisture damage, we can apply vinyl to the back side of fabric. In certain circumstances, the finished fabric needs to be impermeable to liquids, but retain the original look and feel of the fabric. Often, moisture barrier treatment is needed for fabrics used in restaurants and assisted living facilities.

Double Sided Lamination

This custom lamination procedure involves applying vinyl to both sides of the fabric. Because it can be more challenging to sew, In certain applications when fabric is exposed to a higher degree of moisture this process can be beneficial. It minimizes the likelihood of moisture entrapment that can lead to mold and mildew on the fabric facing..

Custom Vinyl Laminated Tablecloths

We laminate your choice of fabric in order to provide moisture and stain protection. We then cut the fabric to your specified dimensions and finish the edges.  Before starting the lamination process, we suggest you provide us with your specific tabletop dimensions and the desired “drop” length.

We suggest that you allow us calculate the amount of fabric needed to complete your order.

Knit Backing of Delicate Fabrics

Most delicate upholstery fabrics will benefit with the application of knit backing. The addition of knit backing to your fabric will increase durability, provide additional strength and minimize slippage at the seams.

Flame Retardant

  • Firewall – This is a fire barrier that is laminated to the back of your fabric. We often use this in shorter yardage orders vs. our standard “FR” application.
  • EcoShield – Our process for stain protection is free of VOCS (volatile organic compounds) and formaldehyde. It can transform most most fabrics into a high performance fabric. In addition we can apply a 1 mil polyethylene moisture barrier to the back.
  • Flame & Stain – In this process we combine EcoShield with flame retardant. An environmentally friendly stain protection combined with flame retardant is a great one two punch.

The Real Deal on Phthalates

Phthalates (pronounced THAL-ates) are the most commonly used plasticisers in the world. They are a family of chemical substances that have been in use for about 50 years, primarily to make polyvinyl chloride (PVC) soft and flexible. Although the various kinds in use today have some structural similarity, each one is different in the way it performs.

We use only non-phthalate plasticisers in both our vinyl and adhesive. We made this change in order to meet the needs of our customers that must comply with Section 108 of the Consumer Product Safety Act of 2008 (CPSIA).
